Please note the this website is currently being updated after I had to take a hiatus for a couple years due to a health crisis. New posts will make its way shortly (posted March 2025).

So you want to know a little bit more about me - I like the way you think! Getting a feel for who you will be working with is very important.

I have been a professional writer since 2005 with a start in print journalism, but I first fell in love with the newspaper world during University when I joined the student newspaper as a music and culture reporter even prior to entering a journalism program. Getting to sit with artists and get their perspectives on the work they were showcasing opened my world to looking at life and culture from multi-coloured lenses and I knew that I wanted to spend my life continuing that path. I always loved stories, but never thought I could be a vessel for those stories until that time or that I may even have a few of my own that others may want to hear and connect with. Writing and interviewing opened up the world of this introvert.

We are all writers and storytellers, we just need validation in our own voice and in knowing that what we create, has value. Not everyone will love every story I write, but by now I have also learnt that almost always there will be a reader waiting for that exact story to hit their lap or screen. That's my message to all creators: Someone, somewhere will be touched by your words and illustrations - and that's pretty amazing.

Like so many women, I have followed my husband's career trail to various locations all over Western Canada, picking up different career opportunities in all areas of Communications along the way. While it created some walls at times, it also forced me to keep learning, adapting, and ultimately helped me foster a versatile media and communications experience. These include:

  • News Writing
  • Media and Public Relations Coordinator and Writer
  • Newsletter Manager
  • Program Coordinator and Facilitator
  • Editor: Resumes, Essays, Magazine, Web, Manuscripts (Copyediting as well as Line editing)
  • Brand Coordinator
  • Business owner (Founder, coordinator, accounting, advertising, and media)

I currently live in Pincher Creek (Alberta) with my family where I get to live a very 1990s rural lifestyle of slow-living, friendly neighbours, and in which most of the community celebrate one another's success.

In recent years I have also become a disability advocate and I hope to support and raise awareness of the value in representing all families and peoples in literature created for all ages. I first became ill in 2017 with suspected untreated-Lyme disease and eventually became legally disabled in 2020 after a continued decline due to a combination of chronic illnesses that developed following the initial diagnosis (Fibromyalgia and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis). This experience have broadened my understanding of the impact disability or chronic illness has on a person and on their families and the lack of understanding and awareness in general society.

After years of scaling back my career to adjust to my physical barriers, I decided to create this business - a boutique-style service in which I choose how much work to take on at a time and to prioritize my energy toward projects that I can feel connected to.

You can follow me on BlueSky (a personal page) or LinkedIn (a business page). You can also subscribe to the mailing list on this website, but please don't expect frequent messages from my end.
